Immersion dyeing creates solid colors on skeins or fabric, We will dye cotton using Procion MX Fiber reactive dyes which are cold water dyes. In the first session we will learn to prepare the fiber and make the dyestock solutions. In the second session, you will dye your fiber.
Yarn may be purchased or you may bring your own. It must be 100% cellulose which includes cotton, rayon , tencel , bamboo, linen or a blend of these. Silk will also dye well.
Please bring to session 1: a calculator, scissors and your yarn
Please bring to session 2: an apron, rubber gloves and a plastic bucket for each color you want to dye.
